The squeeze head is the core component of fully automatic horizontal molding machines for compacting sand molds. Subject to long-term high-pressure loads and sand dust erosion, standardized and meticulous maintenance can greatly extend its service life and stabilize mold hardness. Five key inspection items shall be implemented in daily maintenance.
First, regularly inspect the gap between the front and rear plates of the squeeze head. Before startup, check for accumulated molding sand, metal scraps and other foreign objects inside the gap. All debris must be thoroughly cleaned before no-load test running to avoid plate scratches and uneven compaction force caused by extrusion.
Second, check the air supply for squeeze head swing. If the squeeze head swings sluggishly, disassemble the air inlet pipe to verify smooth airflow at the inlet and clear blockages to guarantee sufficient air supply and insufficient compaction power.
Third, inspect rack corrosion. When the squeeze head moves sluggishly, open the upper cover plate and check rust on the rack. Remove rust in a timely manner; severe corrosion accelerates rack wear and impairs squeeze head positioning accuracy.
Fourth, check aging of sealing parts. Examine the flanges on both sides of the squeeze head and sealing rings beside the rack for hardening, deformation or cracking. Failed seals cause pneumatic leakage and reduced compaction pressure, requiring immediate replacement of damaged rings.
Fifth, replenish and replace lubricating grease periodically. Check the grease on the gear bearing of the top flange of the squeeze head. If the grease turns black or caked, remove all old grease and refill new lubricant to prevent gear seizure due to dry friction.
Besides maintenance inspections, operation specifications must be followed: only trained staff can operate the machine; do not touch moving parts during operation. After repairing solenoid valves, run the machine under no load after power and air supply to avoid hazards from misoperation. Meticulous squeeze head maintenance reduces air leakage and jamming faults to stabilize production rhythm.
